Osteoporosis is the silent disease that makes bones prone to fracture, effecting more than 28 million Americans. The good news: advances in affordable, early detection methods provide effective treatment options. Burlington Area Family Practice Center offers convenient bone densitometry screening, on-site, for early detection of changes in bone health. Using advanced,very low dose, computerized imaging, the entire screening visit takes less than 20 minutes to complete.Current guidelines established by the the National Osteoporosis Foundation recommend an initial, baseline screening for all women over age 50, with periodic screening thereafter. If you are female, over age 65 and on Medicare, testing is provided every two years at no cost to you. If you are under age 65, we can assist you, in advance of the test, to determine if the cost of screening is covered by your health plan. The Laser Treatment Center at Burlington Area Family Practice Center offers state of the art services for removal of unwanted hair as well as treatment of some dermatologic conditions that respond well to laser energy, including "spider veins", birthmarks, fine lines and wrinkles . A consultation (no charge to you) is required in advance of any treatment. While hair removal is considered a cosmetic treatment and not usually covered by most health insurance plans, we encourage you to inquire with us about our treatment packages and payment options.
